General Appointment Information

Complex and/or multiple issues

  • We can help you with many issues or complex issues, and some will take longer to get through. In order to provide fair access for all patients, we ask that you make a list to review with your physician. Together we can determine schedule and appointment types for best management.

Newborn appointments

  • The first newborn appointment should be booked by calling to register the baby with his/her family physician.

Virtual appointments

  • Virtual appointments are 10 minutes in length. Physicians will be able to deal with ONE issue per phone visit.  If you would like to review multiple concerns virtually, please book an in-person appointment or multiple virtual appointments on different days.

In-person regular appointments

  • In-person regular appointments are usually 15 minutes in length. These appointments are best suited for concerns that require a physical examination or to review multiple concerns. Keep in mind that lengthy issues will require more than one visit in order to be able to provide care to all of our patients.

Wellness checks/annual check-ups

  • Wellness checks for children and preventative health/annual check-ups for adults are typically 30 minutes in length (long appointment).

Mental health appointments

  • Mental health initial assessments require 30 minutes (long appointment).  Follow up appointments may be 15 minutes or 30 minutes depending on need.

  • For an initial assessment, please book an in-person appointment (long appointment).

  • For follow up appointments, you may book either a virtual appointment or an in-person appointment depending on the advice of your physician.

Driver's Medicals

  • As of April 2020, Alberta Health no longer pays for seniors driver medical exams, even though Alberta Transportation still requires them at age 75 and every 2 years from age 80 onwards. AH requires senior drivers, similar to work-related drivers, to pay for the exam and form fees.

  • Senior's Driver medical (age 74 and older)= $100

  • Driver's Medical = $150

Procedures

  • Some procedures are covered by Alberta Health; some are not.  Ask your physician before proceeding.  Procedures can only be booked by calling the clinic.

Consultations

  • A referral to one of our physicians for a specialty area consultation (IUD, skin lesion, migraine, bruxism, hyperhidrosis, etc) can only be booked by calling the clinic.
